If your Doctor wants to refer you to hospital you can now choose the hospital you want to go to. This is called Choose and Book (C&B) and you could leave the Practice with an appointment at the hospital of your choice. You will sit down with one of our C&B admin staff and be able to see the waiting times at a number of hospitals and then make your decision where to go. Alternatively if the C&B staff member responsible for making appointments is unavailable you will be contacted by telephone and go through the booking process. Your GP may prefer to contact a Consultant of their choice and refer you them instead. This is likely to be at Northern General Hospital and could take up to 6 weeks for an appointment to come through depending on the urgency.
Please let the hospital know if you cannot keep an appointment. Waiting lists can be long and a missed appointment cannot be used for someone else who may have waited a long time to be seen.
